Festival success

The LADS have enjoyed spectacular success at the MCDA one act drama festival.

The two-day event was packed with high-quality drama from three Montgomeryshire drama groups. Adjudicator David Price was full of praise for all three LADS plays and when the time came for the major awards he gave the trophy for Technical Achievement to 'Nine'.  Director Julia Thomas, Lighting Director Rosie Druce, and Sound Engineers Jenny and Norman Harris were complimented on the superb sense of atmosphere and mood that they brought to the harrowing play about two imprisoned women. Crew members Richard Dibble and Declan O'Connor were also part of the technical team.

As the Montgomeryshire festival was the last of the Welsh heats, Mr Price went on to announce the six finalists from all across the country who will take their plays to compete at Theatr Hafren in June - and 'Nine' was one of them! Huge congratulations to the whole team and the two actors, Marg Kynaston and Pam Johnson, who gave a terrific performance. They will now get to perform on a full-sized professional stage along with five other plays, including 'Doubles' which was the Guilsfield ADS entry.

Do come and support them. The final is being held on the evenings of Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd June at Theatr Hafren, Newtown. Good luck, LADS!
