The Importance of Being Earnest

The LADS present Oscar Wilde’s sparkling comedy, directed by Alison Utting (Under Milk Wood, Dead on Time)

Ernest is in love with Gwendolen. The trouble is, he’s not Ernest – he’s Jack. His best friend, Algernon, has just discovered this and is determined to make mischief. But Algernon is also about to discover Cecily, Jack’s pretty young ward, who also happens to be in love with an Ernest - who just might turn out to be Algernon. And somewhere along the way, there is a mystery concerning an unpublished novel and a handbag…

This enduring comedy is just as much at home in a modern setting as in its original Victorian world. Money still makes opportunities, love still makes us fools. Join us for an evening of Wildean witticism at its finest. And remember,

“In matters of grave importance, style, not sincerity, is the vital thing.”
