New Year workshop

A great way to start the New Year

Come and join us at Llanymynech Village Hall on Sunday 8th January for a fantastic day of drama workshops - and it's absolutely FREE!

Whether you already love drama, or whether you've always fancied it...this could be for you. The LADS will be throwing open their doors to all on the second Sunday of January. The day will be full of games, useful exercises, hints, tips and socialising. Whether you just fancy a wind-down after Christmas, a way in to acting/backstage/directing/writing, a way to meet people or a brush-up on your acting or voice skills - our workshop day is just the ticket!

Sessions available so far: Breath & Voice, Exploring the Text, Agents & Auditions. More to be added soon...

The event is free and all sessions are optional. All you need is yourself, comfy clothes (and flat shoes) and a packed lunch. We will provide the workshops and refreshments, and a warm welcome. Please book your place via our 'Book tickets' page, or by phoning 01691 830558.

The LADS workshop - low-fat, friendly, fun and FREE!

A Concerted Effort

A hilarious comedy of rows, revelations and raffle tickets from our very own Margaret Kynaston.

The leading lights of the village community are putting on a concert in the village hall. The concert committee is an interesting mix: There's a self-important local councillor, the new vicar (single), a shy young helper, a few hidden secrets, not to mention simmering resentments. As the tension builds and opening night gets closer, will they be able to finally work together to make the show a success? And will the raffle ever end?

Guaranteed to brighten an Autumn evening.

Neil Rhodes

It is with great sadness that the LADS say goodbye to Neil. His creativity, energy, enthusiasm, stubbornness, wry humour, bizarre imagination, and ability to carry off a giant babygro with pompoms will be greatly missed.

Neil was a founder member of the LADS. Many of us had the privilege of acting with him or being directed by him. The many plays that he wrote over the years peppered our repertoire with originality, wit, and moments that brought a lump to the throat and a tear to the eye.

Travel well, Neil. May your vegetables always be prize-winning.

Thank you for everything x

RSC practitioner leads LADS workshop

The cast of 'Twelfth Night' have spent a hectic and rewarding weekend, learning their craft from one of the best.

Michael Corbidge is an international voice coach and practitioner and is Senior Voice and Text Associate with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He was visiting Llanymynech as part of the LADS' preparations for their RSC Open Stages production of 'Twelfth Night', which comes to local theatres next month. “Having Michael for a whole weekend has really enhanced the production,” said director Alison Utting. “The whole team been inspired by his ideas and techniques, which will not only help us with this play but will carry forward to future productions.”

Michael spent the weekend demonstrating various warm-up techniques that the RSC use daily, and focusing on specific scenes with each of the cast members. “It was so amazing to see the cast really throwing themselves into the work, and seeing their performances really blossom as a result,” Alison said. “We can't wait to share the fruits of this work with our audiences.”
