Oswestry Arts Link

New online arts forum

LADS is proud to support a new project that hopes to bring together all artists, groups, events and venues in Oswestry and the surrounding area.

The aim is to create a new online forum that will be a one-stop site for the exchange of information, a shared event calendar and marketplace for events.

The brainchild of Alison Utting and Pam Johnson, both members of Llanymynech Amateur Dramatics Society, the forum is being seed funded by the Mary Hignett Bequest Fund with a contribution from the residual funds of the closing Oswestry Arts Association. Alison says, “We are keen for everyone to be able to share their resources, whether that be artists, costumes, equipment or information. Too often major events clash because there is no one place for everyone to communicate. We hope that local media will see the site as the place to go for information on all things art related in Oswestry."

There will be an open meeting at Kinokulture Cinema on Arthur Street on Monday 30th January at 7.30pm. All artists, galleries, arts venues and the media are invited to contribute their ideas and desires for the new forum. For further information call Alison Utting on 01691 622093 or Pam Johnson on 01691 658032 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

New Year workshop

A great way to start the New Year

Come and join us at Llanymynech Village Hall on Sunday 8th January for a fantastic day of drama workshops - and it's absolutely FREE!

Whether you already love drama, or whether you've always fancied it...this could be for you. The LADS will be throwing open their doors to all on the second Sunday of January. The day will be full of games, useful exercises, hints, tips and socialising. Whether you just fancy a wind-down after Christmas, a way in to acting/backstage/directing/writing, a way to meet people or a brush-up on your acting or voice skills - our workshop day is just the ticket!

Sessions available so far: Breath & Voice, Exploring the Text, Agents & Auditions. More to be added soon...

The event is free and all sessions are optional. All you need is yourself, comfy clothes (and flat shoes) and a packed lunch. We will provide the workshops and refreshments, and a warm welcome. Please book your place via our 'Book tickets' page, or by phoning 01691 830558.

The LADS workshop - low-fat, friendly, fun and FREE!

LADS Christmas Knees-Up

A Concerted Effort

A hilarious comedy of rows, revelations and raffle tickets from our very own Margaret Kynaston.

The leading lights of the village community are putting on a concert in the village hall. The concert committee is an interesting mix: There's a self-important local councillor, the new vicar (single), a shy young helper, a few hidden secrets, not to mention simmering resentments. As the tension builds and opening night gets closer, will they be able to finally work together to make the show a success? And will the raffle ever end?

Guaranteed to brighten an Autumn evening.
